Jefferson Township hosts community farmer’s market events during the summer months. Jefferson’s Market is the place in northeastern Franklin County to buy the freshest produce, baked goods, flowers and other treats. Produce is plentiful and varies from week to week. Additionally, special events taking place during the market include music, gentle alpacas and pygmy goats to pet, cooking demonstrations, a fishing derby, displays of antique fire engines and John Deere tractors. The township is also home to 15 miles of scenic byway roads, popular with cyclists. These roadways are not only known for their beauty, but also for their historical, natural and recreational interests.

Blacklick History

Blacklick, situated on the northeastern edge of Franklin County, Ohio, is blessed with beautiful land, but must contend with the strong developmental pressure typical of growing urban areas. Years ago, Jefferson township leaders and residents decided to turn away from conventional approaches that often lead to suburban sprawl, and instead embrace a conservational development approach. This approach rewards preservation and conservation of the existing rural atmosphere, historic character and natural resources. This direction has been very effective and has been recognized throughout the state of Ohio for its vision.
