Whitehall Real Estate
The Whitehall Real Estate market consists of mostly older homes and a few condos with an average home sales price just under $100,000. Whitehall homes in the prestigious Columbus Country Club area off Fairway Blvd have sold for over $800,000. Whitehall is a community that experienced a lot of growth following World War 2 and steadily continued into the 1960's. There have been a few new home communities built within Whitehall City limits in the late 1990's. Whitehall is pretty much landlocked and developed as much as it can be, so there is rarely an opportunity for building a new home or condo. WHITEHALL HISTORY |
|
In the 19th Century, Robert Brotherton of White Hall, England obtained 156 acres of land between the Alum and Big Walnut Creeks. Ye Olde Whitehall Tavern was established on this property and became a popular stagecoach stop along the National Road. Later, this land was sold to Abram Doney and "Whitehall" was unofficially adopted as its community name. "Old Whitehall" came about in 1910 when Abram's son sold the estate in one-acre lots. The same year the town was incorporated, 1947, Town & Country, the nation's first regional shopping center, opened in Whitehall. In the early 1950's, Whitehall was the nation's fastest growing city. Population grew from 4,077 in 1950 to 20,818 in 1960.
Whitehall is changing, like every community. There is very little land available for new development, but resourceful citizens are updating and expanding homes to accomodate family needs. Business, community and city officials, too are finding opportunities to grow and improve services while being mindful of the quality of life the community has nurtured over the decades. Whitehall through its changes, remains a city with proud traditions. Whether you are an entrepeneur or a newly married couple, you will find a welcome in Whitehall, "The City of Pride." |
